Utilizes MUSE for electronic storage, retrieval and editing of ECG's. Provides coverage of ECG department and assists with reception area duties. Essential Functions - Understands and satisfies the needs of the neonatal, infant, toddler, pre-school, school-age, adolescent and/or adult patient in regards to their growth and development process. - Orders stock, non stock and maintains a clean and orderly testing area. - Identifies grossly abnormal ECG results and brings to the attention of the physician. - Provides ECG coverage during clinic hours for inpatients as well as outpatients. Coverage for ECG department includes obtaining inpatient and outpatient ECG's, photocopying, and filing studies as per policy. - Performs routine maintenance on stress lab equipment, ECG equipment, event monitors & loop monitors. - Organizes regular educational offerings on new monitors and equipment for all department personnel to remain familiar with each device and its functionality. - Schedules ECG testing or monitor placement at the cardiologist’s request. Contacts families to arrange appointments. Explains test procedure and gives preliminary instructions. - Receives patients into the clinic for ECG and event monitor testing. Determines if patient is able to undergo testing. Prepares patient for test. - Operates ECG equipment and assures patient’s general physical safety. - Enters hospital charges for studies into hospital computer. Reconciles monthly and yearly statistics with department statistics. Legacy Essential Functions - Performs backup receptionist duties to include answering telephones, relaying messages, scheduling appointments, filing records and registering clinic patients. - Submits charges for ECG procedures, Holters, Signal averaged ECGs, Atrial Electrograms and event recorders. - Coordinates application of Holter and Event recorders with patients and families, which includes instructions and hookup. - Initiates Basic Life Support and assists physicians with advanced life support procedures as requested. - Manages supply chain for holters, event monitors, event recorders at main campus and all regional outreach “Care Closer to Home” locations. - Manage the training of additional personnel who might be performing ECGs at main campus and outreach locations. - Performs quality assurance checks on ECGs at main campus as well as outreach locations. - Manages MUSE data integrity of ECGs, Holters and Event Monitors to include troubleshooting errors with billing, documentation and workflows.

Requirements

  • Work requires job knowledge and experience usually acquired through a high school education or equivalent and previous experience with ECG or a CNA.
  • Light typing and basic computer skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with physicians, families, patients and students.
  • Ability to elicit cooperation from children in order to complete studies is desired.
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider - American Heart Association/American Red Cross/National Safety Council required

Nice To Haves

  • Skills in EPIC and MUSE desirable.
