JOB TITLE: Early Childhood Center Para Educator 2025-2026 School Year Only QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED required; must meet federal and state requirements for highly qualified; bilingual/bi-literate required; one year of successful, relevant, documented work or volunteer experience in a preschool or child care setting and a one-year certificate in the field of early childhood education or child development from an accredited public or private technical college or institution of higher education, or a high school diploma and Child Development Association (CDA) or ECE stackable certificate. Must have current first aid/CPR, TB test, MMR, and food handler's card.Must successfully pass a criminal history check and portable background check. REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Director JOB GOAL: To provide a meaningful and developmentally appropriate educational experience for young children and their families. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: A. Assists individual students and small groups of children through instructional activities that have been planned, assigned, and organized by the teaching staff. B. Participates in lesson and classroom activity planning, and assists in gathering materials relevant for use in units or topics of study. C Assists in the supervision of children during play periods and classroom activities. D. Assists in the movement of children as necessary within the school building, on the school grounds, or on field trips. E. Assists in the supervision of target students in the classroom or learning center. F. Maintains positive relationships with parents of children enrolled in the program. G. Attends parent meetings. H. Performs rotating, non-instructional duties such as supervision of students during non-instructional time. I. Assists in the identification of the function of behavior and intervention needs of students in the program. J. Assists in program home visits as needed. K. Other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Center Director. DUTIES NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR, BUT WILL ASSIST IN: A. Developing lesson plans for students without the supervision of certificated staff. B. Conferencing with teachers about student progress, although their input may be requested. C Establishing communication between parents and school on student progress. D. Evaluating student progress. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: LENGTH: 190 day contract, pro-rated days for mid year hire- ONE YEAR ONLY FOR THE 2025-26 SCHOOL YEAR SCHEDULE: As determined by the immediate supervisor. SALARY AND BENEFITS: As designated in the collective bargaining unit contract. EVALUATION: By the Early Childhood Director and Elementary Principal by May 31st of each year. Revised: 5-13-25
