RESPONSIBILITIES: As part of the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Team, the Infant Toddler Instructional Aide is responsible for developing strong, nurturing relationships with children, assisting the teachers in implementing culturally appropriate learning experiences that advance the development of preschool children. The Instructional Aide will work in partnership with teachers, parents, and the ECE Manager to implement the vision and daily operations of the ECE program and to ensure each child's safety, health, and development in accordance with each child's needs and abilities. They will comply with Adelante Mujeres and Hillsboro School District policies and procedures, as well as Oregon Office of Childcare regulations in childcare centers. The ideal candidate will be inspired by and fully committed to Adelante Mujeres' vision and mission and have a history of working with young children. Assists teachers in providing a well-managed, child-oriented learning environment which is safe, healthy, interesting, attractive, and responsive to the social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language development of each child Communicates effectively with other teachers, AM staff, partners, and families to build trust using different communication tools and systems Continually applies safety practices in all facets of the performance of duties Attend educational workshops and seminars, participate in pre-service and in-service to maintain professional certifications Contributes to general maintenance of classrooms, such as sweeping floors, disinfecting toys, tables, shelves, etc., and replenishing supplies Physical Demands of the Job Lift/move children, boxes, and other items as needed (twist, bend, reach, carry weight, think strategically about how to properly move heavy items) Sit for extended periods of time working on computer and writing grant reports Walk with teachers and children in classroom and on excursions Sit in child size chairs and on floor for ½ hour at time, as appropriate for child-centered activities Crawl or lie on floor or grass as appropriate for child-centered activities Move rapidly from extreme positions, i.e., sudden standing from floor Travel from one site to another to supervise and monitor children and teachers from ECE staff QUALIFICATIONS: We recognize that there are multiple expressions of professional readiness. High School Diploma or GED 1 year of demonstrated work experience with children ages 0-3 years, required (2+ years preferred) Step 7 in ORO (Oregon Registry Online) or higher OR Infant /Toddler CDA (Child Development Associate) Certification Preferred: Language fluency (bilingual) in English and Spanish, read, write, speak Prior experience working with low-income Latino families Demonstrated ability to implement and enhance curricula Training and/or experience working with children with special needs Additional Requirements: Complete Criminal Background Registry enrollment letter for facility number CC503161 Training and/or education in working with children with special needs Current infant & child First Aid/CPR certification (or acquired within 90 days from date of hire) Current Oregon Food Handler Card (or acquired within 30 days from date of hire) Reliable transportation to arrive to different worksites Ability to travel out of town to attend workshops or trainings SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary range: $22.45-$23.65 per hour depending on qualifications.
