About The Position

EC Teacher - Full Time Position - 2026-27 School Year The Expedition School offers an exceptional project based learning approach with a STEM focused environment that seeks to develop high level analytical and critical thinking skills in all of its students. This focus is fully integrated within the core academic disciplines of mathematics, science, social sciences, language arts, and technology. Be a part of a strong, creative, and collaborative staff who put students at the center. You will be supported through coaching, team collaboration and ample classroom supplies. TES operates on a modified year-round schedule. Responsibilities include: Complete IEP paperwork and IEP progress reports in ECATS by deadlines established Schedule IEP meetings with caregivers and send official invitations Draft IEPs in collaboration with other providers Send out data/information gathering document to teachers and other staff working with the student Synthesize all data/information to write present levels of performance for all areas of concern/need Write SMART goals based on present levels with specific baseline information Complete all IEP paperwork in ECATS Maintain the physical and electronic EC files for students on caseload Meet regularly with general education teachers to collaborate Learn and internalize core curriculum for inclusion subjects Anticipate student needs related to general education teacher lesson plans and curriculum to develop resources and lesson modifications needed for student access of the general curriculum Teach students according to their IEP goals in a resource and/or inclusion setting Implement research based programs with fidelity to address academic, behavioral, and social goals Make data based decisions to develop and prepare lesson plans for specially designed instruction to target IEP goals Deploy modified resources/curriculum to students during inclusion Monitor student IEP goal progress at least weekly Collaborate with the student’s IEP team to manage behaviors Utilize the school’s philosophies and methods in conjunction with the student’s IEP behavior plans to successfully manage student behavior. Organize meetings to problem solve student behaviors that are impacting learning/instruction and engage in problem solving with the team Support the team to implement behavior plans across settings, ensuring all staff working with the student are included Administer assessments and ensure student accommodations are provided and successful Collaborate with other service providers to meet student needs (speech, OT, PT, HI, therapists, other team members) Build positive relationships with student families with regular communication Other duties as required (i.e. arrival, lunch, dismissal, etc.). Seek out and actively participate in professional development

Requirements

  • Must have an Elementary Special Education Teacher License or be eligible for an Exceptional Children's (SPED) License in NC. If not currently EC licensed, make a 3 year commitment to the school, participate in all provided training, and fulfill other requirements (may require testing) to obtain full EC licensure within 1 year of hire. The cost of EC licensure and all PRAXIS exams required to attain licensure is the responsibility of the applicant
  • Bachelor's
  • Teaching: 3 years
  • NC Teaching License - Special Ed. General OR valid Professional NC Teaching licence in school’s area of need to which an emergency EC license can be added
