About The Position

At Continental Heavy Civil, we specialize in all types of site development needs — from earthworks to material trucking and more. As an Earthwork Foreman, you will be responsible for coordinating the GPS needs of the crew and equipment, managing crews, communicating with the superintendent regarding schedules and jobsite needs, and providing accurate tracking of labor, equipment use, change orders, and other project documentation as required.

Requirements

  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings with customers, clients, and employees.
  • Trimble GPS experience required; Trimble Business Center experience preferred.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions.
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (Dozers, Graders, Excavators, Rollers, Loaders, etc.).
  • Minimum three years of experience in earthworks construction preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in site earthworks, underground utilities, and grading.
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Trimble Business Center experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Daily communication with the Superintendent regarding job-specific needs, including workforce and equipment requirements.
  • Daily coordination with job site crews to ensure project schedules and workforce needs are being met.
  • Schedule subcontractors as needed and monitor their work to ensure completion per agreement.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by identifying workplace hazards and taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Conduct daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings and weekly Toolbox Talks.
  • Ensure completion of daily records including logs, equipment usage, and timecards.
  • Manage field personnel in a fair and equitable manner.
  • Address staff performance and training issues as they arise.
  • Participate in pre-construction meetings to discuss project startup and planning. Prepare for and participate in regular job site meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation related to safety issues, equipment damage, and workplace injuries.
  • Ensure all work meets specified quality standards. Inspect field work and materials for compliance and review manufacturer literature and drawings prior to work beginning.
  • Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Willingness to assist with ground work in addition to operating heavy equipment on earthwork projects.
