Requirements

  • Candidates must have at least 60 Undergraduate Credit Hours with 6 Hours in Child Development or Early Childhood Education; or a Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential.
  • Candidates must have 30 undergraduate Credit Hours with 6 hours in Early Childhood Education PLUS 1 year of experience (1560 hours).
  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 Year of previous teaching or assistant teaching position in a licensed early childhood program preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the implementation of the approved lesson plans and daily classroom schedule using the Primrose School Balanced Learning curriculum and materials.
  • Maintains an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
  • Maintain open and ongoing communication with parents, sharing updates on their child's development and milestones.
  • Recognize and respond to the individual needs and abilities of each child, adapting teaching strategies and activities accordingly.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care, following health and safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with assistant teachers and other staff members to create a supportive and cohesive team environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay informed about best practices in early childhood education.
  • Observes all rules and regulations at Primrose School including Illinois DCFS standards pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
