About The Position

The Early Outreach Coordinator, reporting directly to the Director for Early Outreach, maintains a high level of internal and external public contact serving as a liaison between the Office of Admissions, various academic units and organizations within the University, as well as between prospective students and their parents, school counselors, and the Las Vegas community. The Early Outreach Coordinator will assist with the development and implementation of effective early outreach strategies and activities to provide access to and potential for success in navigating postsecondary educational information and processes for 25,000+ students and families annually in elementary, middle, and early high school. Outreach efforts should include the development and coordination of outreach to schools, community organizations, students and families and establishing relationships with both on and off campus entities to promote college awareness and readiness efforts in the region. An additional aspect of importance will be the implementation of family participation strategies and activities as well as presentations to parents, students, agencies and educational personnel. These presentations should include but are not limited to: college readiness, career development, financial literacy, study skills, academic programs, linkage between education and careers, etc. The Early Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for program development, coordination, and implementation for 15+ Early Outreach events each school year. Additionally, the Early Outreach Coordinator will contribute to the implementation and expansion of the university wide summer camp initiative that includes Young Rebels programming as well as 40+ summer camps, weekend camps, and any camps or programming including young students held at or by a university related office, program, department, faculty, or staff. Creating a plan to increase access for students from various socioeconomic backgrounds to the unique academic and social enrichment opportunities available through Young Rebels programming is also a priority of the Early Outreach Coordinator. The Early Outreach Coordinator will actively participate in grant writing individually and collaboratively to both ensure continued funding from current grants as well as establish new veins of funding to assist with program development and implementation as well as future expansion of staffing and programming. The Early Outreach Coordinator will also assist with monitoring the Early Outreach budget and any subsequent grant budgets. Assisting the Director for Early Outreach in creating a plan for developing programming to increase the number of prospective students in the pipeline and awareness of UNLV across the valley is also a priority of the Early Outreach Coordinator. The Early Outreach Coordinator will demonstrate the ability to work independently within established goals and general directives under the supervision of the Director for Early Outreach. This position is also responsible for providing leadership in carrying out special initiatives as assigned by the Director for Early Outreach. The Early Outreach Coordinator will be expected to travel both in and out of state and work irregular hours, including evening and weekend programs. All positions in Academic Affairs contribute to our core mission: to increase enrollment and promote equitable student success. By addressing systemic obstacles and implementing strategic services, programs, and support, this position will play a part in enhancing student enrollment, retention, successful progression, timely completion, and equitable outcomes, in order to meaningfully contribute to the institution's commitment to expand access, grow enrollment, and promote career-ready student success that leads to timely graduation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 3-5 years of related professional experience.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
