The main function of the Early Learning Readiness facilitator position is to support school readiness by guiding caregivers in interactive play-based learning activities and modeling positive child development strategies. The facilitator prepares session materials, leads group activities, supports family engagement, and ensures a safe and inclusive space where all participants feel supported. The ELR facilitator works collaboratively with site partners and reports to the ELR Program Director.

  • Able to care for and nurture infants, toddlers, school age children
  • Able to build genuine relationships with children, parents, and coworkers
  • Able to provide and create a welcoming atmosphere that is people centered and service oriented, standing and greeting members by name
  • Be open, friendly and approachable to children and parents
  • Build and maintain open communication with children, parents, directors, and other staff
  • Service Skills: Punctual, reliable, creative, and a self-starter
  • Performs both check in and checkout procedures
  • Provides excellent and genuine care for infants, toddlers, and school age children
  • Attend all required staff meetings and trainings
  • Ability to lead organized age-appropriate activities, including crafts and physical activities
  • Member Involvement Skills: Be knowledgeable about program areas and share information with members
  • Be knowledgeable about the YMCA, its programs and policies
  • Take specific actions to move members to more connected and committed relationships with the YMCA
  • Ability to lead a group of caregivers and their children and ensure all policies & procedures are being implemented
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, sitting on floor, climbing, reaching, running, carrying or holding a child up to 50 lbs, and operating a computer or iPad are all required functions of the position.
  • Spending time outdoors is also a requirement.
