Requirements

  • Are passionate about youth development and aligned with the Y's mission.
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree or CDA preferred).
  • Bring experience or coursework in early childhood education or enrichment.
  • Possess excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • Are comfortable with administrative tasks and basic computer use.
  • Required certifications (can be completed after hire): Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff (prior to first shift) CPR & First Aid (within first 30 days)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a structured, nurturing early childhood classroom.
  • Create and implement engaging lesson plans, daily schedules, and smooth transitions.
  • Ensure the safety, health, and well‑being of each child in your care.
  • Foster a positive environment that supports children's social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development.
  • Build meaningful relationships with children, families, and your team.
