About The Position

For more than 90 years, Easterseals Northern California (ESNorCal) has provided services to people with diverse disabilities or special needs and their families. Our programs deliver remote and in-person services to infants, children, youth, and adults and provide them the skills they need to realize their potential in a constantly changing environment. As Northern California's premier home and community-based services organization, we're committed to making care delivery easier for our clients. The Early Interventionist provides specialized developmental intervention and monitoring to children, ages 0 to 5, who have an identified developmental delay or may be at risk of delay. The Early Interventionist works closely with families, care providers and with members of the Regional Centers' interdisciplinary team to monitor and support children's development to create a rich learning environment for the child to make progress, meet treatment goals and maximize learning potential.

Requirements

Associate degree required in one of the following disciplines: child development, special education, early childhood special education, social work, or related field; or AA Degree + 12 units of Early Childhood Education (ECE).
At least 2 years of experience working with children who have been identified as having a developmental delay required.
Experience working with a wide range of children and families from varied socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
Sensitive to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.
Able to engage children and families, and work with very active children on the floor
Able to work in a team-oriented setting and collaborates with peers/leadership.
Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; American Sign Language or bi-lingual ability preferred.
Able to exercise confidentiality and discretion pertaining to the work environment.
Able to appropriately interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations of Easterseals.
Knowledgeable and skilled in computer software.
Committed to the values of the while demonstrating professional judgment, flexibility, patience, and discretion when dealing with confidential and sensitive matters.
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, twisting to observe, assess, and interact with clients.
Ability to stand for extended periods of time up to and including 6-8 hours a day.
Ability to sit for extended periods of time up to and including 6-8 hours a day.
Frequent speaking and listening (25-75%) to clients, staff, and others in the workplace.
Frequent driving (to and from office and client homes)
Visual and auditory ability to work with clients, staff, and others in the workplace continuously.
Occasional lifting, carrying, and loading/unloading up to and including 25lbs to 50lbs.
Ability to physically implement behavior management strategies including responding to physically aggressive behavior.
Ability to utilize computer and iPhone.
Frequent proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.
Must be able to communicate effectively within the workplace, read and write using the primary language within the workplace.
Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance through the Department of Justice (DOJ). The People & Performance Department must analyze DOJ/FBI live scan reports in accordance with applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, as well as fitness for the position.
Ability to travel to multiple work sites and client homes; reliable transportation needed.
Must have a valid California Driver's License with Insurance and maintain a clean driving record.
Must pass health screenings, obtain vaccinations, and clear TB testing based on company policies.
Ability to obtain and maintain clearance through the Office of Inspector General.
Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification.
Ability to obtain and maintain National Provider Identifier (NPI) number.
Must attend any required training.

Responsibilities

Provides developmental monitoring and intervention to children, ages 0-5, who have been identified as having, or being at risk of developmental delay or disability.
Model's strategies and provide education to parents/care providers/families to promote their child's unique development.
Sets and monitors child's goals in accordance with the child's Individualized Family Service Plan.
Collaborates with Regional Centers' service coordinators and interdisciplinary team members.
Meets productivity requirements for assigned caseload and provides effective intervention strategies, materials, and communication, both with families and with the interdisciplinary team.
Under direction of the Lead Early Interventionist and/or Early Intervention Program Manager, schedules and coordinates regular home visits with parents/care providers for in-home/natural environment intervention activities and parent education.
Coordinates family visits with other pediatric therapists/providers according to the individual needs of the child.
Assesses, evaluates, and consults on child's developmental progress using discipline-specific, evidence-based assessment tools.
Develops individual client goals and plans curriculum according to child and family's needs.
Completes billing and documentation (i.e., treatment notes, progress reports) in a timely manner
Provides recommendations and educational materials through written and verbal communication to parents/care providers.
Assists parents in learning ways to foster their child's unique development.
Provides other resources and suggests referrals to other support services as needed.
Remains current regarding new research, current trends and developments in special education and related fields.
Completes additional job duties as assigned by supervisors/management.
