What is an Early Intervention Specialist? An Early Intervention Specialist assigned to the Early Start Program implements the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) within a family and child centered play-based and natural environment. An Early Intervention Specialist assists in evaluating the child in five developmental areas: Social-Emotional, Adaptive/Self Help, Communication, Physical, and Cognitive; works directly with the learner and learner’s family providing coaching and supportive strategies to encourage strong social-emotional bonds throughout the family; assists parents and caregivers to provide appropriate learning experiences based on their child’s needs, interests and functioning levels; accurately maintains documentation monitoring the overall effectiveness of the treatment plan; maintains open and frequent communication with all team members.
