About The Position

The early intervention teacher will assess children’s functional developmental levels; plan and implement age-appropriate interventions to meet child and family objectives; provide recommendations and multidisciplinary coaching support, and provide Family Service Coordination.

Requirements

  • Job-related experience within the specialized field is required.
  • Master’s degree in job-related area.
  • Eligible for Kansas Teaching License
  • Valid driver's license for employment.
  • Successful completion of Defensive Driving course, provided by RCDC.
  • Background Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assess developmental skills and functional abilities (cognitive, self-help, fine and gross motor, social-emotional, communication, etc.) to determine program eligibility and develop recommendations for intervention.
  • Assist caregivers in developing children’s functional skills in all areas of development and activities of daily living.
  • Collaborate with a variety of groups and/or individuals (e.g. parents, caregivers, physicians, administration, team members, partner programs, etc.) to communicate information, resolve issues, and provide services in conformance with established guidelines.
  • Consult with a variety of parties (e.g. parents, caregivers, team members, outside professionals, etc.) to provide requested information, develop plans for services, make recommendations, and/or coordinate early intervention services.
  • Develop intervention plans and materials to increase children’s development and ensure compliance with established regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings as a coach and a primary service provider to generate options for the implementation of evidence-based approaches, support colleagues, and problem solving.
  • Prepare and maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records (e.g. progress reports, activity logs, billing information, Individual Family Service Plans, outcomes, etc.) within required timelines to ensure the availability of information as required for reference, providing information and/or compliance.
  • Provide appropriate direct and consultative developmental services in natural environments (e.g. home visits, community sites, etc.) according to the Individual Family Service Plan to provide interventions and assistance as required in compliance with established practices, goals, and objectives.
  • Monitor progress and adjusts interventions and approaches indicating evidence of planning and progress toward child and family outcomes.
  • Maintain timely documentation.
  • Support the mission, goals, and objectives of RCDC.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality as outlined by FERPA and HIPAA.
  • Ability to work alone and in groups to provide services.
  • Assume responsibility for individual professional growth by staying current with research and practices.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in effectively and regularly communicating with other employees of RCDC and clients.
  • Complete all assignments timely, including communication with other staff and clients or contractors.
  • Adhere to all professional guidelines as outlined in agency policies.
  • Independently manage daily assignments and activities ensuring performance outcomes are achieved within budget, timeline, department, and agency objectives.
  • Follow all safety requirements as directed by RCDC.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Early Intervention Program Director.
