About The Position

Assist the teacher in providing a quality early childhood education program.

Requirements

• Minimum sixty (60) hours of college credit, with at least one course related to early childhood education.
• Experience working with young children
• Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Substitute Certification
• Knowledge/Skills – Understanding of early childhood development.
• Sensitivity to the feelings and needs of others.
• Experience working with young children.

Nice To Haves

• A.A. in early childhood education, child development, or child care preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher in planning and working with preschool children and follow her lead/approach with children.
• Assist in the development of a learning environment which emphasizes communication skills, thinking and problem-solving skills, social-emotional skills, and motor skills.
• Maintain confidentiality concerning children and families.
• Use a positive approach in dealing with all behavior.
• Maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues and parents.
• Deal with children fairly and impartially.
• Utilize observational skills in learning about each child.
• Maintain program organization necessary for operating a classroom, for example, prepare activities, maintain an orderly room, clean and organize materials.
• Demonstrate professional standards of appearance, ethics, and behavior, which serve as a positive model for children and parents.
• Be punctual and regular in attendance, spending sufficient time to perform assigned duties thoroughly.
