Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree
Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate or Any additional certifications/qualifications specified by the Louisiana Standards for State Certification of School Personnel Bulletin 746
Responsibilities
Establish learning objectives with written lesson plans.
Teach effectively, creating a stimulating room environment.
Provide opportunities for large motor activities outside.
Use developmentally appropriate techniques and materials.
Differentiate activities to meet individual needs.
Record anecdotal observations and collect work samples.
Conduct parent conferences and complete formal assessments.
Make provisions for individual differences.
Maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning.
Demonstrate understanding of child growth and development.
Exhibit knowledge of subject matter and curriculum objectives.
Maintain control and promote self-discipline.
Use orderly procedures for classroom control.
Follow school and board rules and regulations.
Adhere to time and duty schedules.
Sign in and out of school.
Be in the assigned classroom when the period begins.
Remain at school during the school day unless permission is obtained from the Principal
Attend administrative and professional meetings.
Notify the Principal in case of absence.
Follow guidelines set forth by the Rapides Parish School Board staff.
Maintain an attractive and clean classroom.
Account for textbooks, furniture, equipment, and materials.
Complete required records and reports on time.
Be responsible for field trips.
Exhibit enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
Maintain good public relations with parents.
Be ethical in contacts with parents, professionals, and pupils.
Participate in in-service programs and professional development.
Be loyal to the school system administration.
Establish and execute a professional growth and self-evaluation plan.
Teach in accordance with the Louisiana Components of Effective Teaching.
Observe standards of conduct inside and outside of school.
Set a good example for pupils by dressing appropriately.
Use appropriate language.
Maintain self-control and poise.
Maintain good general health.
Enunciate clearly and express ideas effectively.
Demonstrate the ability to adjust to new situations.
Accept responsibility and meet obligations on time.
Be in attendance at work except for illness or emergency.

Supervision of Students prior to school and/or drop-off, when assigned
Supervision of Students in the classroom
Supervision of students between classes, during recess/intermission, during lunch, assemblies
Supervision of Students after school and/or pick-up, when assigned
Attend meetings generally associated with the instruction of students
Attend faculty, staff, and department meetings
Attend training sessions
Attend IEP meetings
Attend parent-teacher conferences
Attend back-to-school and open-house events
Attend graduation
Attend PGP, PIP, Evaluation, Observation, IAP, and student discipline meetings/hearings
Attend school board/committee meetings, upon request
