As the designated state museum of natural history, NHMU has the incredible opportunity to provide educational experiences in an amazing building that showcases Utah’s spectacular views and houses the state’s unparalleled objects and artifacts. Join us and be part of an incredible team that sparks curiosity and passion for the natural world. This is a temporary summer camp position that could become a permanent part time position. As a part of the Youth & Family Programming Team, Early Childhood Facilitators will provide instruction in a wide variety of STEAM subjects, providing stimulating social and emotional development while sparking interest and curiosity in our rising Kinder and 1st grade participants. Facilitators are provided with curricula, supplies, support staff, and training. A successful candidate for this position will have experience in early childhood development and teaching strategies, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, and will be able to provide additional lessons and activities as needed to create an engaging, well-paced experience for our youngest participants. While this position is a temporary position that will focus on working in our award-winning summer camp program, the job could continue on throughout the year with staff assisting with all manner of Youth & Family Programs from special events and festivals to weekend classes and workshops. The work schedule starts in early June with staff training. Summer Camp begins the week of June 10 and runs through the week of August 12. There is no camp (and therefore no work) the weeks of June 17 and July 22. We have two 3-day weeks during July 1 and August 12. Facilitators work weekdays from about 7:45am-4:45pm, M-Th. Fridays will have staff attending a morning staff meeting. Schedules may adjust slightly. At the Natural History Museum of Utah, we recognize that our strength and sustainability as an organization stems from varied backgrounds and experiences. For this reason, we are committed to fostering a sense of belonging and strive to recruit and retain a diverse workforce that reflects the communities we serve and are a part of.
