About The Position

The Early Childhood Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Collaborates with the Special Education Teacher to provide continuity of activities and services to students by planning, organizing, and managing classroom activities. To protect the safety of the individuals we support and staff, Springbrook requires new employees to be current on all recommended vaccinations, including but not limited to: COVID-19.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development.
NYS Teacher Certification required.
Experience leading a classroom and creating education lesson plans.
Experience working in a licensed childcare facility.
Proficiency in or knowledge of using a variety of computer software and e-mail applications, especially Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; have the aptitude to learn other computer software as necessary.
Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently and assist in lifting weights exceeding 50 lbs.
Meet the requirements to drive Springbrook vehicles as required.

Responsibilities

Provide a safe and developmentally appropriate preschool program in accordance with all relevant legislation, policies and procedure.
Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program.
Ensure the equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times.
Provide weekly and monthly schedules of activities.
Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts.
Develop activities that foster cooperative play and learning.
Implement positive discipline when required. Follow behavior plans and participate in the development of Good Working Strategies as needed.
Participate in introductory and ongoing learning opportunities and professional development activities as assigned and approved by supervisor.
Attend agency, faculty and student meetings.
Attend weekly classroom meetings, working in conjunction with special education teacher to create and review weekly agenda.
Demonstrate an understanding of and compliance with applicable regulatory procedures.
Keep parents informed of program activities and their child’s progress.
Communicate in an ongoing, positive, and productive fashion with all members of students’ team, to facilitate child learning across environments.
Develop and record lesson plans with clear, developmentally appropriate objectives.
Assist students in all activities of daily living, including meal time and toileting routines.
