About The Position
The Teacher Assistant supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. The role requires effective communication, listening, and teamwork skills to foster a collaborative environment. The Teacher Assistant is responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director. This position plays a crucial role in observing and documenting children's interests and progress, relaying that information back to parents and staff to ensure a comprehensive understanding of each child's development. In addition to supporting the educational program, the Teacher Assistant actively engages in classroom activities, manages the cleanliness and maintenance of classroom materials, and encourages participation from the children. Maintaining frequent communication with parents through informal discussions and progress reports is essential to build positive relationships and ensure that parents are informed about their child's development. The Teacher Assistant also encourages self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling and helps ensure a smooth daily transition from home to the child care center. Following all center policies and state regulations is critical, as is maintaining a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement in the role.
