About The Position

General supervision of all programs and facilities in the Early Childhood Center (ECC) and District School Aged Childcare Programs; ensure all assigned employees are aware of and follow all policies, rules, regulations, directives, and information issued by the Board of Education and Superintendent of schools. Provide a positive, welcoming experience for all families and staff that promotes awareness to best practice in early child education. Oversight and implementation of LARA requirements for GSRP classrooms which may include but is not limited to management of health and safety trainings for staff, oversight and facilitation of safety drills, room temperature checks, food service requirements and record keeping, maintenance of LARA licensing binder, licensing notebook, parent notification board, and staff files. Conduct classroom walk-throughs and teacher evaluations of all Early Childhood staff in conjunction with the Macomb Intermediate School District (MISD). Maintain the GSRP budget, oversee the collection of tuition fees, initiate, and approve all requisitions for GSRP instructional materials and equipment, and make periodic reports to the Curriculum Office. Facilitate the district vision for Professional Learning Communities throughout the Early Childhood Center Required to update and manage Mi-Registry for all ECC Staff. Provide professional development to all Early Childhood staff on an on-going basis. Manage on-going registration, recruitment, and enrollment for all Early Childhood programs. Communicate routinely with building level Principals and Curriculum Director to ensure curricular alignment and site visits. Determine classroom assignments and rosters for the GSRP classroom. Provide for the health, safety, and welfare of students, teachers, and other employees. Provide proper prescribed measures for the care of injured and/or sick students and other personnel when at school. The circumstances and extent of injury to any students, school employees, or other persons in such injury occurs on school premises or under supervision of school personnel is to be reported to the proper Central Office Administrator and assigned LARA agent, as appropriate. Issue informational bulletins or significance to teachers, students, and parents regarding all areas of safety and instruction, as it related to the assigned school. Ensure grant requirements are met for all grant funded programs. Model and enforce positive morale for students, employees, and parents. Regularly attend and participate in after-school building, district, and community events. Any other functions or change in assignments and /or duties/responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Superintendent. Responsible for maintaining regular, reliable and punctual attendance.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Michigan Teacher’s Certificate with at least 3 years of successful teaching experience within the validity of certificate.
  • Master’s Degree or higher, with ZA or ZS Endorsement preferred.
  • Coordinator must meet Rule 400.8113(9) for program directors, which states: All program directors shall have at least 2 semester hours or 3.0 CEUs in child-care administration or have an administrative credential approved by the department. These semester hours may satisfy a portion of the requirements in subrules (7) and (8) of this rule. The program director may also use 30 hours of administrative training from MI Registry to meet these requirements.
  • Knowledge of state licensing rules and regulations (LARA)
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current educational issues involving state and federal mandates, curriculum development, school improvement, assessment, and staff development.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current best practices and research in the field of early childhood.
  • Collaborate with administrative colleagues and staff to encourage growth and enhancement of student achievement.

  • In addition, the person may need to occasionally push or lift equipment or boxes.
  • The employee may need to travel to other buildings occasionally.
  • The employee will need specific vision abilities to perform office work.
  • The employee is required to work at a computer.
