About The Position

ECE Subhub is seeking caring, dependable Long-Term and Short-Term Substitute Teachers to support Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms in the Dearborn Heights area. The Dearborn Heights location also observes select Muslim holidays, reflecting the cultural makeup of the community. What the Role Looks Like Support teachers in Early Head Start and Head Start classrooms. Help maintain daily routines and a safe, engaging environment. Assist with caregiving routines such as feeding, diapering, and toileting. Step into classrooms that may include challenging behaviors, using patience and positive guidance. Communicate openly and honestly with teaching teams and supervisors. Adapt to different classrooms and age groups as needed. This role is ideal for someone who is flexible, calm under pressure, and comfortable supporting children with diverse developmental and behavioral needs. Physical and Professional Expectations Substitutes should be prepared for an active day that may include: Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor. Lifting up to 50 pounds when needed. Moving between floor-level and standing positions frequently. Strong communication, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism are essential. Working With ECE Subhub At ECE Subhub, you’ll be supported every step of the way. As a substitute teacher, you’ll have opportunities to assist or lead in curriculum implementation, daily routines, relationship-building, and the overall rhythm of each classroom you support. You’ll gain hands-on experience across a variety of teaching styles and settings, build strong professional relationships, and develop confidence working with young children. Our substitutes are trusted partners in each classroom, and we make sure you have the tools, training, and encouragement you need to succeed. What You Can Expect Work with children ages 0–5. Requirements

  • AA degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development preferred, or a degree in Human Services, Youth or Family Studies, Social Work, Elementary or Special Education.
  • AA degree in progress with completion expected within one year, or 18 college credits in Early Childhood, Child Development, Social Work, Human Services, Elementary Education, Special Education or Family or Youth Studies.
  • Experience with infants, toddlers, or preschoolers preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Reliable transportation and ability to travel to various sites.
  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds when needed.
  • Moving between floor-level and standing positions frequently.
  • Strong communication, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism are essential.
