About The Position

The Early Childhood Specialist I is a vital member of a transdisciplinary early intervention team dedicated to providing developmental support to infants and toddlers with disabilities and their families. This role is centered around the family, with the Specialist acting as the Primary Provider, ensuring effective communication, consultation, and skill-sharing across various disciplines. The goal is to facilitate seamless service delivery, minimizing confusion and fragmentation for families seeking Early Start services at Exceptional Parents Unlimited (EPU). In this position, the Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all early intervention activities align with the objectives outlined in the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) for assigned children and their families. This includes understanding and demonstrating the Six Foundational Principles as per the Early Start Personnel manual. The Specialist will identify the strengths of both the child and family, their typical routines, and preferred learning strategies, working closely with families to provide direct services in natural and inclusive environments. The role requires maintaining a minimum productivity threshold of 45% during a standard 40-hour work week, with adjustments based on individual schedules. The Specialist will implement evaluation and assessment activities in compliance with state laws and regulations, conduct necessary developmental assessments prior to IFSP meetings, and collaborate with families and team members to set developmentally appropriate goals. Additionally, the Specialist will prepare comprehensive reports that integrate findings from various sources, ensuring a holistic approach to each child's development. The position also involves coaching Early Intervention Assistants, making referrals for families, and participating in consultations with specialty services as needed. The Specialist must maintain confidentiality in managing client records and ensure accurate data entry in the Apricot 360 system. Flexibility in work hours is essential, as the role may require evening or weekend hours to meet family needs. Reliable transportation is necessary for local travel to meet families outside the EPU Center.
