About The Position

Must meet district Teacher Assistant (TA) requirements High school diploma or equivalent; Highly Qualified status as required by No Child Left Behind and the Individuals with Disabilities Act—Associate’s Degree or have scored at least a 4 in math or reading, and a 3 or better in writing on the Work Keys test. Consistent and reliable attendance Ability to be responsible for all student self-care including mobility in a wheelchair; Ability to physically attend to student needs, including personal care, diapering and/or toileting, transfers to and from wheelchair, tube feeding, medication administration (oral, rectal and through gastric tube), augmentative communication, assistive technology devices and wheelchair mobility; Ability to lift 50 pounds Ability and willingness to perform recess monitoring, bus unloading, and lunchroom supervision, as necessary; Basic computer skills preferred; Ukeru and/or CPI trained preferred; Ability to be flexible with varying student needs and schedule changes; Effective communication skills with a variety of staff members; Ability to work with children in a caring, nurturing manner; Demonstrates flexibility, teamwork and organization; Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality; Hard Working and team player.
