About The Position

In partnership with the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, the Early Childhood Education Service Lead will provide coordination and organizational support in the ongoing development and implementation of the Los Angeles Early Childhood Student Advancement Program (ECE-SAP) for a maximum of 900 hours. The ECE Service Lead will connect with diverse communities, manage a caseload of agencies and students, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams. Additionally. In coordination with CRCD’s Associate Director of Youth Workforce Development, the ECE Service Lead will additionally report, receive daily and/or weekly operational instructions from the Early Childhood Equity Project Coordinator assigned to the Mayor’s Office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field from an accredited college is acceptable (degree in social sciences, ethnic studies, or justice studies is preferred but not required)
  • One to two years of experience in leadership and/or community organizing, preferably working with students and/or families
  • Working knowledge of social injustices that impact students and family's ability to thrive
  • Experience working in collaborative team settings
  • Experience working with currently and formerly transitional age youth
  • Knowledge of database management and quality control process
  • Reliable, flexible team player who works well with minimal supervision, who has a good work ethic, and an ability to set and maintain personal boundaries
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, and to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources
  • Working knowledge of MS Office
  • Working knowledge in data tracking systems and tools
  • Strong organizational skills to manage large caseload, data, and reporting duties
  • Strong client-facing and teamwork skills
  • Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
  • Critical thinking to incorporate new strategies and maintain ethical standards
  • Reliable transportation: valid driver's license, and car insurance as required by law, as appropriate

  • Familiarity with the At-Risk population is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Recruit and match 50 students to Vernon/Central Network (VCN) YouthSource Center and Los Angeles contracted early childhood education internship sites.
  • Onboard ECE-SAP students and ensure timely start of internship.
  • Develop agendas, meeting minutes and other materials for the ECE-SAP Work Group.
  • Create media content for community outreach initiatives (flyers, social media content, etc.).
  • Assist with organizing and the distribution of financial awards to ECE-SAP students.
  • Track ECE-SAP students’ hours worked and resolve student/supervisor questions as needed.
  • Interact with internship host site directors and staff in support of student interns.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams as the program needs and resources evolve.
  • Help with community outreach events, press events, and other administrative duties as needed.
