About the position

The Early Childhood Paraprofessional plays a crucial role in supporting the educational and developmental needs of young children. This position involves working closely with teachers and special education staff to implement instructional activities that align with the Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines. The paraprofessional will assist in creating a safe and nurturing environment that promotes active learning and development for all children, including those with developmental delays or disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing instructional activities that promote active learning and development, aligned with the Nebraska Early Learning Guidelines.
  • Support individual and small-group instruction under the direction of the teacher, including literacy, math, play-based learning, and fine/gross motor development.
  • Support children with developmental delays or disabilities by following Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or other intervention plans in collaboration with special education staff.
  • Help manage classroom routines and transitions to ensure a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
  • Assist with toileting, feeding, dressing, and other self-care needs in a respectful, supportive manner.
  • Supervise children in the classroom, on the playground, and during other daily routines to ensure their health and safety.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain learning materials and classroom supplies.
  • Use positive guidance strategies consistent with Nebraska's Pyramid Model practices for social-emotional development.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters related to students and families.
  • Participate in professional development and training as required by the district and Nebraska Department of Education.
