About The Position

Wellness Together, a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, partners with schools statewide to increase access to mental health services for students and families. By collaborating with universities and graduate programs, Wellness Together provides cost-effective "turn-key" social-emotional interventions on school campuses across California. Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist II/III Under supervision, the Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist provides mental health services, including individual and group counseling, case management, parent and staff consultations, referrals, and treatment plans for students with mental health needs. This position conducts mental health training for students, staff, and families.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctorate degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or other related field.
  • Possesses registration in good standing under California BBS as an AMFT, ACSW, APCC, LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC.
  • 2+ years of experience in a School Setting.
  • 2+ years of experience in Crisis Management and Crisis Intervention work.
  • 1+ years of experience working with children ages 0-5.
  • Regulations of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
  • Evidence-based treatment modalities (CBT, ACT, PCIT-informed, Early Childhood SEL curriculum) and the DSM-5.
  • HIPAA, FERPA, Mandated reporting policies, and ethical requirements.
  • Crisis management and community resources.
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License
  • NPI Number
  • CAQH Credentialing

Nice To Haves

  • Previous PCIT Training preferred.
  • Fluent in a second language (Spanish preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group counseling and parent-child therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based strategies (CBT, ACT, DBT, PCIT-informed).
  • Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Offer crisis intervention and perform risk assessments.
  • Provide case management and coordinate care for referred students.
  • Consult with school staff (administrators, counselors, teachers) to coordinate student care.
  • Develop and deliver student, parent, and staff mental health training.
  • Conduct classroom observations to support positive behavior management.
  • Facilitate parent sessions to teach effective behavior management and enhance attachment.
  • Maintain thorough, ethical, and confidential documentation (HIPAA & FERPA compliant).
  • Participate in individual and group supervision as scheduled and required by the BBS.
