About The Position

This is an Exempt Position. Provides site supervision and knowledge of instruction of birth to three children, educational exercises for parents, and leadership over other staff in the performance of program requirements. Provides supervision of teaching staff to ensure the emotional, cognitive, and social development of children, providing meaningful learning and recreational activities in a relationship-based environment.

Requirements

  • Requires a Associates Degree that includes 30 hours of approved coursework in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field, plus additional 6 hours of curriculum training.
  • Two years of supervisory experience in an school age enrichment program (Early Childhood Preferred) or Five years of partial supervisory experience in an school age enrichment program (Early Childhood Preferred)
  • Requires knowledge of the principles of best practice in early childhood education.
  • Requires knowledge of the methods used in an early childhood educational setting to improve behavior and cognitive abilities of children.
  • Requires knowledge of how an educational system operates and the necessary Federal and State critical components that are involved within its operation.
  • Requires knowledge of governmental regulations associated with IEP’s and IFSP’s.
  • Requires to possess a basic understanding of the scope of the Head Start effort and Trauma informed practices.
  • Requires familiarity with Head Start Program Performance Standards and processes needed to inform program operations for continuous improvement.
  • Requires familiarity with Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
  • Requires familiarity with CLASS Observation Tool.
  • Requires knowledge of Ages and Stages Screening Tools.
  • Requires to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
  • Requires to have the ability to write reports, actions plan, education plans, family plans, and other documents that support continuous program improvement.
  • Requires knowledge of remote learning and support techniques using technology and printed materials.
  • Requires knowledge of or willingness to obtain knowledge of local Tribal Culture, Traditions, and practices.
  • Requires knowledge of diversity in rural America and specifically on Indian reservations.
  • Requires knowledge of the various techniques used to help individuals who are emotionally, mentally, physically, or developmentally disabled.
  • Requires knowledge of Tribal, State, and Federal service systems.
  • Requires knowledge of analyzing and applying effective conflict resolution.
  • Requires strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires a knowledge of and commitment to adhere to the professional code of ethics for respective profession.
  • Requires knowledge of Tribal, State, and Federal standards and licensure requirements.
  • Requires skill in the use of computers and associated software (ChildPlus, TSGOLD, and Microsoft Office) as it relates to the duties of the position
  • Requires working knowledge of Early Childhood Education curriculum.
  • Requires creative writing skills to prepare and/or adapt age-appropriate class materials and reports.
  • Requires well-developed oral communications skills to convey concepts in classroom and community-based settings, and work cooperatively with a diverse population of children and parents.
  • Requires knowledge of Childcare regulations for wrap-around childcare service coordination.
  • Requires the skill sets to perform the responsibilities of the position including delivery of instruction in classroom and play settings.
  • Requires the ability to understand the needs and differences of children and to reach and motivate them.
  • Requires the ability to balance emotional support and discipline to deal with behavior problems.
  • Requires the ability to observe, categorize, evaluate, and critique the performance of pre-school children.
  • Requires the ability to learn, interpret, and apply District, State, and Federal requirements and objectives for academic achievement.
  • Requires to be able to design and develop instructional objectives for curriculum and set up assignments, tests, and student projects.
  • Requires the ability to develop and maintain a productive and safe classroom environment.
  • Requires to be able to organize and prioritize work and manage time effectively.
  • Requires to be able to communicate in a professional manner, in both formal and informal settings with students, fellow staff, and parents.
  • Requires the ability to work in a stressful and fast paced environment.
  • Requires the ability to manage and supervise up to 20 staff effectively and efficiently.
  • Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.
  • If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
