The Early Childhood Education Instructor (part-time) is responsible for facilitating student learning and improving student success in the Early Childhood Education Program. Faculty members will provide instruction in early childhood education theory and practice, develop and evaluate curriculum, and create a supportive learning environment. They will also engage in professional development and adhere to ethical standards in education.

  • Facilitate student learning and assess learning outcomes.
  • Provide instruction in early childhood education theory and practice.
  • Plan, develop, evaluate, and revise curriculum in early childhood education.
  • Prepare teaching materials including syllabi, examinations, and learning activities.
  • Create a supportive learning environment responsive to students' academic needs.
  • Assess curriculum implementation and student progress.
  • Engage in professional development and collegial responsibilities.
  • Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development from an accredited institution.
  • Three years of experience teaching young children (birth - age 8) in a licensed early childhood setting.
  • Experience with computer-based instruction and learning management software.
  • Evidence of current child abuse and neglect clearance from Michigan Department of Human Services.
  • Ability to pass a national criminal background check.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in early childhood and/or special education.
  • Demonstrated successful teamwork in a professional environment.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Understanding of community college teaching mission and philosophy.
  • Innovative and flexible teaching style.
  • Strong language and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to integrate technology into teaching.
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or Child Development.
  • Recent teaching experience in the early childhood field at the college level.
  • Two years full-time experience in an administrative position in a licensed early childhood setting.
  • Graduate coursework in special education and/or elementary education.
