About The Position

The Early Childhood Education/Child Development Adjunct Instructor position involves in-person teaching assignments at local high schools. Requirements

  • Master's in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education, or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education.
  • Bachelor's in any of the above fields and a Master's in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies, or family and consumer studies.
  • Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and faculty.

  • Available for face-to-face instruction during high school open hours.
  • Ability to or experience with teaching college material in a high school setting.
  • Experience in early childhood education.

Responsibilities

  • Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules.
  • Creating and maintaining an environment that emphasizes learning and encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking.
  • Evaluating student progress and grading student work.
  • Meeting with students outside of class.
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Keeping current knowledge in subject matter areas.
  • Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
  • Maintaining accurate academic records.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
