About The Position

The Early Childhood Community Facilitator (ECCF) at Omaha Public Schools is a grant-funded position aimed at enhancing access and quality in early care and education for families in the Castelar neighborhood. The ECCF will coordinate community-based efforts for children from birth to five years old, fostering collaboration among local childcare providers and families to improve educational engagement and service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Early Childhood Development, or related field
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a school setting, preferably in early childhood or childcare
  • Experience in meeting the needs of early childhood and community providers
  • Knowledge of community resources for families in need
  • Ability to work with sensitive family situations professionally
  • Experience working in culturally diverse communities
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience in program development and management
  • Proficient in oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and families
  • Demonstrated proficiency in English and preferably Spanish
  • Knowledge of district computer software

Responsibilities

  • Work a flexible schedule to meet community needs
  • Assist families and community childcare providers in overcoming barriers to educational engagement
  • Collaborate with community childcare providers to offer support and professional development
  • Collect data and compile reports for community and district use
  • Coordinate student and family recruitment and outreach to childcare providers
  • Plan opportunities for parent involvement in family activities
  • Collaborate with district stakeholders and service areas
  • Facilitate community meetings and engagement activities
  • Build trusting relationships with community partners and families
  • Help families access early childhood programming in Omaha
  • Develop and distribute informational materials for families
  • Create a referral network of local community resources
  • Engage in team meetings to gain insights on Early Childhood Programs
  • Establish relationships with community service providers to meet family needs
  • Prepare and submit reports on home visits and parent contacts
  • Identify solutions to service gaps and explore program expansion opportunities
