About The Position

WSP is seeking an Entry-Level Water Resources Engineer to join our growing Northeast Water Practice in the Shelton, Connecticut office. This candidate will utilize their professional experience and technical knowledge of civil engineering, hydrology and hydraulics to support water resource projects focusing on drinking water treatment and distribution system planning, design and construction administration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field with a strong foundation in water and wastewater engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 0-2 years' experience in a related field.
  • Ability to obtain EIT in 6 months.
  • Basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Basic knowledge of ArcGIS.
  • Experience with MS Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, & Project) required.
  • Must function independently with minimal supervision in a multi-disciplinary team setting which includes engineers, planners and environmental scientists.
  • Ability to perform field work/site visits required and some travel required.
  • Must possess a valid US driver's license.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take initiative ensuring the quality of deliverables.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant work experience in civil engineering, hydraulics, water and/or wastewater.
  • Project experience in the CT/NY area a plus.
  • EIT certification.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Experience with WaterGEMS or Innovyze modeling software is a plus.
  • Affiliations with professional societies and active industry and community involvement are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare planning and engineering designs and bid packages for water distribution and treatment projects, as well as wastewater, drainage, site civil and water resources projects.
  • Write reports documenting findings, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Perform GIS and AutoCad Civil 3D analyses and design to support engineering and technical services.
  • Attend project meetings involving communication to federal, state and local government officials.
  • Research, evaluate and apply regulatory requirements, codes and guidelines from local, state and federal agencies.
  • Perform construction administration and resident engineering services including observation of construction activities, completion of daily reports, taking measurements, and review of contractor submittals and invoices.
