As part of our continued success, Landau Associates is seeking an Early Career Water Quality Engineer. This position will be based in one of the following locations: Seattle, WA, or Tacoma, WA.  The successful candidate will initially be responsible for performing a wide range of environmental engineering tasks. This may include: Conducting industrial facility inspections, assessing pollutant sources, and developing operational source control best management practices (BMPs) Preparing stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPPs), including stormwater site maps Supporting technical evaluation of data and development of recommendations for permit compliance with the Washington State Industrial Stormwater General Permit and other NPDES permits Assessing structural source controls and treatment alternatives for the applicable pollutants (e.g., metals, suspended solids, organics, nutrients, emerging contaminants) to meet stormwater permit benchmarks or wastewater pretreatment limits Assisting in the preparation of discharge monitoring report submittals and technical reports Preparing written documentation for permit applications Implementing field activities, such as:  Stormwater, groundwater, soil gas, wastewater, soil, and sediment sample collection Operation and maintenance of existing stormwater treatment systems Travel within the Pacific NW region and occasional early morning, evening or weekend work may be required.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in environmental, civil, or chemical engineering with related coursework in hydraulics and hydrology, aqueous chemistry, and/or wastewater treatment
  • 0-4 years of relevant professional experience
  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Travel within the Pacific NW region and occasional early morning, evening or weekend work may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as an engineer in training (EIT) is highly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with State and Federal environmental regulations in the Pacific Northwest is preferred
