About The Position

Our Information Technology (IT) teams play a vital role in delivering innovative digital solutions that improve patient outcomes, streamline operations, and enhance consumer experience. Humana is seeking early career IT professionals for full-time roles starting in January, February, or Summer 2026. These opportunities are designed for undergraduate and master’s students graduating in Summer 2025, December 2025 or Spring/Summer 2026 who are passionate about technology and eager to make an impact in the healthcare industry. Roles span across Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Science, Agile Project Management, and related disciplines. Qualified applicants will be considered for a variety of positions across Humana’s IT organization, and your areas of interest will be requested and considered during the hiring process. Potential Team Placements: You may be placed in one of the several dynamic areas within Humana’s IT organization, including: Digital & Growth: Digital & Growth focuses on leveraging technology to drive member engagement, business expansion, and operational efficiency. The team develops and refines digital tools, mobile applications, and self-service portals that enhance the customer journey. Projects may include building new digital experiences, implement marketing automation, or use analytics to inform business strategy. Enterprise AI: The Enterprise Augmented Intelligence (AI) team is responsible for innovating and building reusable, human-centered AI capabilities, tools and services to support and mature Humana’s data science community and its data science projects. This includes focusing on advancing the future of AI with innovations such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Conversational AI, driving the AI Center of Excellence (COE) and supporting high-priority business use cases, all with the purpose of helping individuals achieve their best health, enabling simpler care and membership growth for Humana. Interns may work on projects involving model development, data pipeline optimization, and AI-driven insights for clinical and business challenges. Insurance: The Insurance IT segment enables Humana’s core insurance operations by developing and maintaining systems for claims processing, underwriting, policy administration, and member enrollment. Projects often focus on automating workflows, modernizing legacy platforms, AI chatbots and IVR, and enhancing data integrity to support efficient and accurate insurance services.

Requirements

  • Must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week) starting January, February, or Summer 2026.
  • Must not require sponsorship to work in the United States now or in the future.
  • Must be a current full-time undergraduate or graduate student with an expected graduation date between Summer 2025 and Summer 2026.
  • Must be intellectually curious, flexible, as demonstrated through previous jobs, internships, and/or projects.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Be actively involved in on-campus and/or community activities.
  • Have a strong academic history, with a minimum of 3.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Possess an interest in working in the healthcare industry.
  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Data Science, Cyber Security, or related quantitative discipline.
  • Technical skills may include Java, C#, JavaScript/Angular, SQL, Oracle, MongoDB, PowerBI, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), SaaS (Salesforce), agile methodologies (scaled agile, scrum), and AI/ML frameworks.
  • You must be authorized to work in the US without Humana sponsorship as Humana does not provide work visa sponsorship for this role.
