About The Position

Glorieta Geoscience, A division of GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA) is seeking a Geoscientist/ Hydrologist to support the Environmental and Water Resource practice in our Santa Fe, New Mexico office. As a Geoscientist/ Hydrologist, you will work on a wide variety of exciting and challenging projects. You will join our team of consulting scientists who work on a variety of projects involving water exploration, water rights analysis and compliance, environmental due diligence and site characterization, and water resource assessments. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with high attention to detail and work under the supervision of experienced project managers and/or principals. Project tasks will include field data collection, preparing detailed and accurate field documentation, GIS data analysis, report preparation and graphics presentations. You will work in a close-knit group with seasoned professionals who will train and mentor you while helping you diversify your skill set and achieve your career goals. Our success relies on a strong collaborative environment. GZA emphasizes a One Company environment, and as a member of our team, you may be asked to assist on projects and tasks outside of your primary responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Geology/ Geoscience or Hydrology, or Water Resources is preferred
  • 1-3 years of related geologic experience is preferred but not required
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical capabilities
  • Ability to follow directions, and work independently or in a team setting
  • Strong communication skills, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS and other common programs such as Word and Excel
  • Have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel

Nice To Haves

  • Professional state registration/licensure is a plus but not required
  • Availability to work Monday through Friday and occasional evenings and weekends as necessary to meet project demands

Responsibilities

  • Complete field tasks and assist with the technical execution of projects.
  • Perform soil, surface, and groundwater sampling for environmental or geotechnical analyses.
  • Conduct on-site inspections of sample locations.
  • Organize, inventory, and maintain supplies of sampling equipment and materials.
  • Execute mechanical trouble shooting and repair of field sampling equipment and instrumentation.
  • Gather data and other samples to be used in the preparation of hydrological and engineering deliverables.
  • Field oversight and documentation of subsurface explorations and collection of data/samples for geotechnical or environmental analysis.
  • Prepare reports summarizing data collected in the field.
  • Compile and organize data collected by others.
  • Handle field and office QA/QC responsibilities, including calibration of sampling equipment and instrumentation.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with contractors, clients, and team members.
