About The Position

WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Early Career Geologist for our Lakewood, CO office. Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Geology, Mining Engineering or related degree.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent communication skills including report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to travel internationally and to remote project locations.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Geology, Mining Engineering or closely related degree.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Fluent in English with fluency in other languages (e.g. French, Spanish, Portuguese) considered an asset.
  • Previous internship and relevant experience in underground & surface mine planning, design and scheduling.
  • Experience in utilizing mine planning, design and scheduling software packages such as Vulcan, Deswik, Datamine, MineScape, Whittle, XPAC and Spry.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a Safety-First focus.
  • Conduct a full range of mining engineering and geology functions.
  • Perform strategic modeling, design and engineering analyses duties, including interactive mine design and sequencing utilizing various mine modeling software packages.
  • Work collaboratively with engineers and technical staff to develop the skills and procedures needed to effectively deliver engineering and consulting assignments.
  • Continually apply a high standard of ethical behavior to promote and support WSP’s Core Values and Culture.
  • Complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
