WSP is seeking an Early Career Environmental Scientist to join our San Diego, CA office. As a global leader in environmental consulting, we are committed to protecting and conserving natural landscapes while championing sustainable development to combat climate change. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and growing our environmental consulting business, focusing on storm water management, Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDLs), indicator bacteria, water quality resources, environmental permitting, Best Management Practices (BMP) implementation, and compliance with municipal, commercial, and industrial National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) regulations. In this position, you will be responsible for conducting natural resource field surveys, collecting observational, spatial, and environmental data under general supervision. You will also collect and compile samples of soil, water, sludge, and other matrices for analysis, ensuring adherence to quality control standards and procedures for accurate measurement and documentation. Your role will involve assisting with basic professional environmental science work related to ecological systems and water resources, verifying site characteristics, and providing entry-level technical assistance on various environmental issues. Additionally, you will generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field notebooks, assist senior staff in preparing technical reports, and comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures. The position requires a strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to generate high-quality data and reporting work products for clients. You will also utilize the latest technologies and techniques in performing studies and analyses of habitats, sites, and potential impacts to the environment and public health. Training on assigned tasks will be provided, and you will be expected to exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, adhering to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies.
