About The Position

This Opportunity WSP is seeking a full-time Early Career Environmental Engineer for its Creve Coeur, Missouri office. The successful candidate will contribute to the Site Investigation & Remediation (SIR) Team and support the company's continued growth while meeting client objectives and addressing their environmental challenges. WSP’s Creve Coeur SIR team provides a broad range of services in engineering and environmental sciences including environmental assessments, site investigation and remediation, environmental compliance, soil, groundwater, and air quality investigations and monitoring, EHS compliance and management system audits, geotechnical investigations, regulated materials surveys, and due diligence assessments. Your Impact Under general supervision, provide field support on a wide variety of environmental projects including site assessment, remediation, compliance programs, Phase I environmental site assessments, and sampling/monitoring. Conduct subsurface investigations which include drilling, geologic/geotechnical logging, and environmental media sampling. Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements. Perform engineering calculations, cost estimates, data validation, and report preparation. Prepare reports, including documentation field investigative procedures, data management and interpretation, development of graphical and tabular presentation of data, and Phase I environmental site assessments. Assist with verifying the characteristics of a site, providing entry-level technical assistance on various environmental issues. Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and field/work site notebook. Work closely with WSP project managers to meet client expectations with regards to defined project objectives, schedule, budget, change management, problem solving, and project deliverables. Demonstrate proficiency using Microsoft Office products and strong technical writing and data analysis skills. Comply with safety guidelines and site-specific procedures which include but are not limited to, the maintenance of sample collection, location data, statistical documentation, and logbooks. Complete training on assigned tasks. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs. Who You Are

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in environmental, civil, or geological engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 0 to 1 years of relevant post education experience.
  • Excellent research skills with analytical mindset.
  • Familiarity with relevant environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
  • Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment.
  • Able to work independently under general supervision, as well as part of a team to meet business objectives.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation and communication software, technology, and tools.
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
  • Able to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
  • Willing to travel locally, nationally, and internationally, with possible frequent shorter-term travel and some longer-term travel.
  • Able to collect field samples, which requires the ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (at least up to 50 pounds), and which may involve extended assignments away from the home office location.
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record in accordance with the company’s motor vehicle safety policy.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Certifications: OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training with current 8-Hour Refresher Training, DOT Hazardous Materials Training, CPR and First Aid Training.
  • Prior internship related to the degree of study and the specific engineering discipline.
  • A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
