About The Position

WSP is seeking an Early Career Chemist to work out of our Marlton, NJ, Lawrence, NJ or Exton, PA office. Takes part in providing local technical assistance for the collection, identification, and compiling of environmental and chemical data from samples of air, soil, water, and other material. Generates accurate and concise documentation, ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology or a closely related physical or natural sciences discipline.
  • 0-1 year of experience in environmental consulting or environmental laboratory analytical chemistry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; scientific writing experience preferred.
  • Positive attitude and the ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary groups.
  • Ability to interface with multiple project managers.
  • Detail-oriented personality and ability to manage multiple tasks/projects.
  • Familiarity with USEPA Analytical Methods and USEPA data validation guidelines preferred.
  • Knowledge of / Experience in organic and inorganic chemical analyses preferred.
  • Experience with analytical database management using Access, EQuIS, and GIS programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required, and skills in EQuIS or SQL are desired.
  • Commitment to working safely and adhering to all health and safety protocols.
  • Potential for occasional field work assignments.
  • Performance of work in inclement weather conditions following OSHA requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • 40 Hour OSHA HAZWOPER health and safety training is preferred.
  • Master’s degree in chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology or a closely related physical or natural sciences discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of environmental laboratory services and field sampling program sample tracking.
  • Management of Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) programs.
  • Evaluation of environmental analytical data in an efficient manner, in accordance with Regional and USEPA data validation guidelines, site specific quality assurance project plans (QAPPs), and published analytical methods to ensure data quality objectives are met.
  • Preparation of data validation narratives, and data usability reports.
  • Assist in preparation of QAPPs.
  • Management and reporting of environmental analytical chemistry data and geo-environmental data through multiple database platforms.
  • Participation in field investigations and collection of environmental samples.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.
