About The Position

The EAP Consultant role at Carilion Clinic involves providing comprehensive counseling, consultation, coaching, and training services to EAP client companies. This position emphasizes excellent customer service and leadership, ensuring timely responses and high-quality service delivery to both internal teams and external clients. The consultant will work in a split position, primarily at Hollins University and with the Carilion Employee Assistance Program, collaborating with a team of professionals dedicated to supporting employee well-being.

Requirements

  • Masters degree in counseling field required.
  • EAP experience preferred.
  • Certified Employee Assistant Professional (CEAP) required, or must obtain within 1 year of hire.
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Virginia or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Virginia preferred.
  • Qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) with the Department of Transportation (DOT) required, or must obtain within 6 months of employment.
  • Effective interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills required.
  • Familiarity with EAP core technologies and essential components of the Employee Assistance profession.
  • Competent in Word Suite, especially PowerPoint expertise required.
  • Critical Incident Stress Debriefing experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform EAP supervisory consultations with Human Resource personnel, managers, and directors of client companies.
  • Provide training on EAP and work-life topics to client company audiences.
  • Offer conflict resolution services to client groups and individuals.
  • Manage Substance Abuse Professional Services for DOT clients, overseeing alcohol and drug cases referred to subcontractors.
  • Conduct assessments, referrals, and short-term counseling for individuals.
  • Deliver Critical Incident Stress and Grief Debriefing Services upon client request.
  • Provide performance individual coaching to client companies.
  • Maintain documentation of all activities through charting and data entry in EMR.
  • Collaborate with the EAP team to support service delivery and coordination.
  • Perform additional EAP duties as requested by the EAP manager.
