About The Position

The purpose of this classification is to perform duties related to answering and dispatching emergency 911 calls in the Department of Emergency Services. Responsibilities include answering emergency and non-emergency 911 calls, providing life-saving instructions, and dispatching appropriate response units in a timely manner while ensuring field units' safety. This classification is distinguished from E911 Communications Officer III in that this class answers emergency and non-emergency calls, monitors service providers' activities, and dispatches calls; whereas the latter conducts on-the-job training programs for Communications Officers and serves as shift lead as required. Incumbent works within a 24-hour, seven (7) days per week operation and performs shift work as required, including working holidays and weekends.
