The E-ZPass Operations Database Specialist (Database Specialist II) at the Maryland Department of Transportation is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, maintaining, and controlling database management systems. This role involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to support the management of the Electronic Toll Collection (ETC) program and ensure compliance with contracts. The position requires a strong understanding of statistical techniques and SQL database management.

  • Assemble, collect and compile statistical data using database SQL queries, regularly scheduled reports or existing records.
  • Interpret and analyze collected data and determine percentages, medians, mean and frequency of data distribution.
  • Determine, develop, and evaluate the method and sources of collection and organize, prepare, and submit reports, conclusions, and recommendations for the department.
  • Implement quality assurance standards for the database gathering, assembling, analyzing facts, drawing conclusions, and devising solutions.
  • Conduct reference and research methods involving database gathering, assembling, analyzing facts, drawing conclusions, and devising solutions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with coursework in database management systems.
  • One year of experience in database management systems design, development, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Six months of experience writing and executing SQL queries for data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience with Business Intelligence Tools
