CGAP is a global partnership of more than 30 leading development organizations dedicated to advancing the lives of people living in poverty, especially women, through financial inclusion. CGAP works at the frontier of inclusive finance to test solutions, spark innovation, generate evidence, and share insights. CGAP’s knowledge enables public and private stakeholders to scale solutions that make financial ecosystems meet the needs of poor, vulnerable, and underserved people and of micro and small enterprises (MSEs), including through advancing women’s economic empowerment. Among other areas of responsibility, the Unit focuses on: • Fundraising to support CGAP’s strategy and operations • Brokering and monitoring interactions on themes in inclusive finance between CGAP technical teams and member counterparts, as well as between multiple members and partners • Gathering, analyzing and disseminating funder/partner and market intelligence at the levels of individual organizations, specific geographies, and specific topics to inform CGAP’s strategic relevance within the ecosystem it serves • Reporting on member engagements and satisfaction for internal and external audiences • Liaising with all regional leads based in Nairobi, Bangkok and Bogota to gather regional intel and drive engagement in the regions Job Duties and Responsibilities CGAP is seeking an Extended Term Consultant-Partnerships Specialist with demonstrated knowledge and expertise in network cultivation with senior leaders, fundraising, relationship management, partnership development, project development and management, and exposure to multiple sectors relevant to CGAP’s current strategy. The ET Consultant-Partnerships Specialist will help manage and strengthen CGAP's member relations, develop new strategic partnerships, and contribute to securing funding to sustain and deliver CGAP’s strategy and operations. This assignment will contribute to CGAP’s Partnerships Unit and CGAP’s overall success. The position requires a versatile professional with capability to speak in technical terms in the areas where CGAP is expanding (e.g., open finance, blended finance, food security and agriculture, health, climate) and who has capacity to contribute to strategic planning, share constructive reflections, and advise on team infrastructure and working models to support donor relations and engagement that are valued and sustained over time. The ET Consultant will work with CGAP’s Partnerships Unit on a suite of tasks related to foundations’ and other prospects’ engagement strategies and relationship management, expansion of member constituencies, market intelligence, partnership model design and optimization, growth and expansion strategy, and internal and external relationship building and visibility. These efforts will support ongoing engagement, prospecting, governance and fundraising efforts for CGAP’s current and new strategic cycles. This includes executing fundraising strategies and leveraging donor and market intelligence to develop new partnerships for greater impact. Direct knowledge of CGAP members and exposure to how the different public and private donors fund and contribute to the financial inclusion industry is essential. The ability to absorb donor and investor perspectives as well as intel on the latest trends and opportunities, and link those to CGAP’s mandate and workplan, is also essential. Strong expertise in and knowledge of the financial services industry is required; knowledge of the financial inclusion industry is preferred. The position will report to CGAP Partnerships Lead and will be an active member of CGAP’s Partnerships Unit Team.
