About The Position

The Extended-term Consultant (ETC) position in the Economics sector at the World Bank Group's International Finance Corporation (IFC) is a pivotal role aimed at enhancing the measurement and reporting of developmental impacts within the Financial Institutions Group (FIG). The IFC is the largest global development institution focused on the private sector in emerging markets, operating in over 100 countries to create markets and opportunities that alleviate extreme poverty and promote shared prosperity. The Development Impact Measurement Department (CDI) plays a crucial role in analyzing economic sectors to identify opportunities for private sector development, providing technical support for investment and advisory projects, and ensuring high-quality economic support throughout the project cycle. The selected consultant will work closely with the Investment and Advisory Staff of the FIG, focusing on the refinement of the Anticipated Impact Measurement and Monitoring (AIMM) framework. This includes conducting AIMM rating assessments for investments in trade finance and other financial institution business lines. The consultant will be responsible for strengthening the measurement, reporting, and evaluation of FIG's results, with an emphasis on data analysis and market research. The role requires collaboration with senior staff to support various departmental activities and ensure that the developmental impacts of FIG's engagements are well-articulated and justified based on rigorous economic analysis. The consultant will also engage in economic and econometric research relevant to the financial sector, contributing to the development of sector strategies and operational decisions. This position offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that supports the IFC's mission of fostering private sector development in emerging markets, particularly in the financial sector, which constitutes a significant portion of IFC's investment operations.
