About The Position

The eSports Manager at Blinn College is responsible for building, implementing, and growing a regionally recognized eSports program. This role encompasses all aspects of the program, including recruitment, practice planning, competition scheduling, and budget management. The manager will also supervise assistants and ensure compliance with relevant regulations while promoting the program within the college and community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Coaching or teaching experience
  • In-depth knowledge and experience with multiple eSports titles
  • Demonstrated experience in a self-directed, fast-paced environment
  • Valid Texas Drivers' License
  • Insurable by the College auto insurance policy

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or higher
  • Previous experience in higher education
  • Previous coaching experience in eSports
  • Collegiate eSports experience
  • Competitive experience in eSports titles, especially League of Legends and/or Overwatch
  • Knowledge of NACE rules and regulations
  • Previous recruiting experience

Responsibilities

  • Actively recruit qualified student-athletes interested in academic programs.
  • Provide leadership and coaching strategies to develop student-athletes' skills and teamwork.
  • Schedule scrimmages and register the team for competitions.
  • Coordinate off-season practice and competition schedules.
  • Assist with team travel as necessary.
  • Develop and manage the budget for the eSports program.
  • Oversee equipment care and inventory, making recommendations for purchases or replacements.
  • Recommend alterations and improvements for eSports facilities.
  • Familiarize with NACE and NJCAA eSports regulations and ensure compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison with officials and attend necessary meetings.
  • Work with college administration to assess program success.
  • Assist financial aid officials in managing scholarships for students.
  • Run summer camps, clinics, and promotional events.
  • Participate in college and community activities and encourage student participation.
  • Visit high schools to build relationships with eSports coaches.
  • Mentor student-athletes on life skills and post-college preparation.
  • Monitor and assist student-athletes' academic progress.
  • Encourage student graduation from Blinn College.
  • Attend student functions and recognition events.
  • Manage social media for the eSports team.
  • Collaborate with media and public information office for program exposure.
  • Seek institutional support for the eSports program and recommend public support strategies.
  • Maintain defined office hours.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
