About The Position

This position will be responsible for developing and launching the E-Sports program and is in charge of recruiting student-players, managing the budget, overseeing the general operations, coaching, and building the program identity. The Head Coach reports to the Assistant to the President of Ranger College This position will work with the Assistant to the President to devise a competition schedule each year and strategize on game selection. The preferred candidate will have the ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Travel for team tournaments and recruiting will be required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Technology related field required
• At least one-year competitive eSports experience involving team-based multiplayer online video games
• At least one-year working in a technology related field
• Expert knowledge of multiple NJCAEE competition games
• Ability to work with a diverse community of students, faculty, administrators and professional colleagues
• Demonstrated initiative and creativity
• Strong relationship-building skills
• Proficient written and oral communication skills
• Proficient organizational skills
• A valid driver's license and ability to travel

Nice To Haves

• Coaching or teaching experience preferred
• Experience recruiting high school or college students preferred

Responsibilities

• Recruit and retain students for the E-Sports program
• Collaborate with other on-campus departments including, but not limited to, the IT Department, Marketing, and Communications
• Initiate and run practice, competition, and team building activities
• Oversee and manage program budget
• Provide guidance and input on games selected for varsity and non-varsity competition
• Offer regular feedback on equipment upgrades, updates, and maintenance
• Coordinate off-season activity, practice schedules, and competition schedules
• Organize team travel when required
• Conduct camps, clinics, and promotional events to help market the program to potential students and donors
• Monitor and mentor the academic and mental well-being of players
• Pursue sponsorship opportunities
• Review agreements, contract deadlines, rules, and compliance within any associated league, conference, and affiliates.
• Enforces the NJCAAE “Code of Conduct” policies for all students.
• Ensure all persons and functions of the program exemplify the character and mission of Ranger College
