About The Position

Under technical and moderate direction, support business growth and profitability goals in a fast-paced environment with a team by reviewing Two & Done (T&D) new business and managing renewals as assigned. Support the daily service demands of our agents and underwriting team. Work within a letter of authority on assignments of moderate to low complexity, hazard grade, and premium. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

• Demonstrate proficiency in the usage of all supplied desktop tools; including the automated underwriting system and email.
• Display confidence and a willingness to take ownership of a request or problem.
• Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to see the big picture while responding to changing conditions.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 0-3 years of Commercial Lines experience

Nice To Haves

• Insurance Institute of America (IIA) Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and process renewal policies as assigned, which includes applying knowledge of coverage forms, rating plans and guidelines in selection and pricing of individual risks, change requests, and open communication with internal and external customers.
• Ensure adequate pricing of individual risks through proper classification, pricing, accuracy of information and adherence to company underwriting standards and philosophy.
• Refer all outside authority level to the appropriate level.
• Gather, analyze and evaluate risk exposure using available resources (e.g. application, survey reports, Data Cube, MVR’s, loss history, industry publications such as SAGE, IRMI, and A.M. Best, and other information pertaining to business initiatives, etc.) and document results per Quality Assurance standards.
• Assign underwriter renewal accounts as status “underwriter exception” based on certain criteria as outlined in MUSIC renewal process.
• Those policies that fit auto renew will be placed into conditional renewal and those within the individual’s authority and guidelines will be renewed.
• Determine appropriate solution for the agent and take necessary measure to obtain information needed to resolve inquires/transactions as quickly as possible including rating coverages or providing multiple quote revisions.
• Respond to all inquiries in a timely manner on coverage, agent questions and making policy adjustments based upon granted authority level.
• Maintain a suspense and follow-up system for outstanding underwriting items.
• Provide guidance to internal and external customers regarding various underwriting information including the MUSIC automated systems. Effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Reinforce the ease of doing business with MUSIC by meeting or exceeding customers’ expectations and service quality on a consistent basis.
• Manage workflow within required SLR including reviewing all assigned Two & Done policies post issuance according to MUSIC processes.
• Process or assist in the processing of renewal policies, endorsements, manual policy issuance, handle BOR’s in accordance with established guidelines and process reports and/or correspondence as directed by manager or assigned underwriters.
• Build and maintain collaborative relationships across the regions including mentorship, as assigned, of support staff.
• Work collaboratively with the regional underwriting team to provide seamless experience for our agency partners.
