About The Position

The Doctoral Capstone Coordinator (DCC) for the Entry-Level Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program is responsible for serving as a leader to constituents of the program and as a liaison between the OTD program and the College. The DCC establishes student performance standards, policies, procedures, and regulations related to the implementation of the doctoral capstone. This position holds a clinical appointment (assistant or associate professor) and encompasses administrative, academic, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of the academic program. The DCC demonstrates competence in clinical leadership, development, and implementation of the doctoral capstone portion of the OTD program, coordinating with the college, and designing the curriculum for the doctoral capstone courses and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited occupational therapist professional program or equivalent.
  • Minimum of earned post-professional Doctoral Degree (OTD minimum, PhD, ScD, EdD preferred).
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in the state of Utah.
  • Member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.
  • Current NBCOT credential (R).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a licensed occupational therapist.
  • Experience with instructional delivery via face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, interpersonal, problem-solving, and counseling skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of two years of full-time academic experience in occupational therapy education.
  • Active in clinical practice (monitoring, consultations, and/or direct service).
  • Active in professional activities at local, state, regional, and/or national levels.

Responsibilities

  • Communicates news and current information related to the doctoral capstone program among all stakeholders.
  • Provides ongoing communication with constituents regarding the philosophy, requirements, policies, and procedures of the doctoral capstone program.
  • Develops, implements, monitors, and refines the doctoral capstone portion of the program curriculum.
  • Ensures regular evaluation of doctoral capstone advisors, mentors, and student performance.
  • Models and promotes professional behavior expected by the program.
  • Facilitates quality learning experiences for students during doctoral capstone placements.
  • Maximizes available resources for the occupational therapy capstone portion of the OTD program.
  • Oversees appropriate capstone program documentation and engages core faculty in planning and assessment.
