As the E&I Technician, the incumbent will be responsible for repairing and maintaining electrical/instrumentation systems, process control, and analytical measurement equipment within DuPont’s specifications by using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring and testing equipment. The incumbent will also improve reliability/uptime through participation in improving asset performance and maintenance strategy.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent is required
  • 3+ years of Electrical and Instrumentation experience
  • Ability to work overtime, including holidays, weekends, and short notice call in’s as required
  • Ability to learn new computer software systems and have experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to wear required PPE (personal protective equipment) such as steel toed shoes, hardhat, Nomex® clothing, protective eyewear, face shields, hearing protection, arc protective clothing, and respirator as needed
  • Able to troubleshoot and maintain 12volt to 480 volt systems
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controls and other control systems, human machine interface, motor starters/VFDs, Mechanical drive systems, conveyor systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to function as part of a team or as an individual
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills – Written and Verbal
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Commitment to the company goal of achieving a zero injury culture; understand and follow company safety procedures
  • Able to meet the physical requirements of the position, including but not limited to: Willing and able to: lift or move up to 50 lbs.; climb stairs, ladders, and columns; stand, walk, stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, utilize visual acuity, reach overhead, hear and respond to alarms
  • Work in a variety of environmental conditions
  • Willing to improve technical skills through on-the-job and/or outside training.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior plant maintenance or construction experience.
  • Advanced training in relevant skills.
  • Experience with SAP-PM (or similar CMMS system)
  • Experience with Honeywell Instrumentation, Allen Bradley, Siemens Drives, and Programmable Logic Controls
  • A degree or Certificate from an accredited college or technical school in the Instrumentation field
  • Journeyman or Electrical License for the State of Michigan preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in an Electrical & Instrumentation role

Responsibilities

  • Reading and understanding manuals, schematics, and P&ID’s
  • Performing and documenting maintenance calibrations, installation, fault diagnosis, repair of electronic, mechanical and pneumatic instruments and systems i.e., pressure, level and flow transmitters, etc.
  • Configuration and fault diagnosis of control instrumentation.
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of control valves and systems including positioners, I/P transducers and position indicators.
  • Testing, troubleshooting and repair of AC/DC motor controls and drives.
  • Measure, fabricate and install conduit, piping, and tubing, and perform basic electrical wiring, including protection devices and grounding circuits.
  • Follows safe work practices as set forth by company standards, NFPA, and other codes in electrically classified and non-classified areas.
  • Uses Lock, Tag, Clear and Try procedure and other safe work procedures before beginning work on equipment and systems.
  • Work in PSM (Process Safety Management) rated and non-PSM facilities and strictly adhere to safety principles and policies as a condition of employment.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on equipment; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of research equipment or perform scheduled maintenance repairs of same equipment as needed.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters, welding, cutting and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Perform housekeeping in the work area to maintain site safety standards
  • Participate in development of maintenance work schedule outlook, including all upcoming major equipment shutdown and overhauls
  • Install and maintain electrical distribution centers
  • Test energized systems
  • Operate Power Services distribution systems
  • Contributes to the design, implementation, and programming of control systems for equipment upgrades and new installations
