Responsibilities

  • Monitor equipment performance and troubleshoot equipment failures.
  • Work with maintenance supervision, planners, and technicians to develop equipment repair plans.
  • Work with interdisciplinary groups to develop and execute projects through the sites management of change process.
  • Provide technical input to the maintenance coordinator and operations team for determining the criticality of scheduling equipment down for needed maintenance.
  • Work with reliability engineer to obtain and interpret maintenance and reliability metrics for recommending needed improvements or changes.
  • Support capital projects by participating and reviewing equipment selection and layout to optimize “maintainability” and meet site reliability goals.
  • Promote consistency by standardizing equipment, providing technical expertise for installation, check-out, maintenance procedures and start-up of all new or modified critical equipment, and assuring that necessary spare parts are identified and maintained properly.
  • Analyze equipment trends, historical data, and field data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment.
  • Identify training needs for mechanics and others supporting the maintenance function.
  • Participate in PSM activities as defined by site manuals and practices, mainly focused on mechanical integrity (MI) and quality assurance (QA).
  • Participate in maintenance and reliability networks to learn and share best practices and leveraged sharing of successes and failures.
  • Serve as leader and/or member of the Site Electrical Safety Program.
  • Review and improve existing site maintenance procedures (SOPs).
  • Serve as leader and/or member of the site reliability improvement team; actively promote and work to instill a “reliability culture” within plant organizations and systems.
  • Develop and implement equipment asset plans using reliability centered maintenance, FMEA, and other reliability techniques.
  • Apply engineering theory, practices, and principles to perform failure analysis, determine root cause of equipment failures, and conduct equipment performance evaluations.
