About The Position

The E&I Lead Designer at Emerson is responsible for leading the design and implementation of control systems projects across various industries, including refining, petrochemical, and pharmaceuticals. This role involves collaborating with diverse teams, managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality electrical and instrumentation designs. The position emphasizes innovation and problem-solving to meet client needs while fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in designing and implementing control systems projects.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading and directing design teams.
  • Experience with automation design for modernization projects and front-end studies.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards (e.g., ISA, NEC).
  • Willingness to travel up to 30% domestically.
  • Ability to navigate plant sites and work in various physical environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in a technical field of study.
  • Experience with grassroots automation design projects.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation including transmitters and control valves.
  • Experience with electrical equipment sizing and load calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and production of cabinet/panel designs, installation details, wiring diagrams, and related control system drawings.
  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers, defining project scope and requirements.
  • Develop project estimates, schedules, and construction scope of work documents.
  • Manage project budgets and track progress against schedules.
  • Evaluate bid packages for construction and control systems equipment.
  • Conduct field walk-downs to survey existing instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
