About The Position

This position is responsible for performing electrical maintenance, which includes, but is not limited to, maintaining and/or repairing power plant equipment; working on both energized and de-energized equipment; planning work and following procedures/prints to install and maintain equipment; performing preventative maintenance on plant equipment; performing assembly and disassembly of components using proper rigging and lifting techniques; troubleshooting equipment; properly using electrical test equipment; communicating with plant supervision, plant operations personnel, and/or plant maintenance personnel; and responding to call outs in the event work is required after normal working hours. In addition, these positions will maintain plant maintenance records in the Maximo® computer-based work order system and ensure all work complies with environmental permits and regulations. The incumbents are expected to perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for their personal safety and the safety of other employees.

Requirements

  • Must possess an in-depth knowledge and understanding of the principles of operation of generators, motors, circuit breakers, switchgear, transformers, instruments, controls, programmable controllers, microprocessors, computers, and A.C., D.C., Digital, Analog, and Pneumatic systems and circuits.
  • Must have the skills to troubleshoot, calibrate, disassemble, reassemble, and repair Fossil Plant’s electrical/electronic equipment, instruments, and digital, analog, and pneumatic control systems using technical manuals, instruction books, wiring diagrams, and electrical, electronic, and pneumatic test equipment.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry, or exert a force of up to fifty (50) pounds for extended periods of time without excessive fatigue or loss of efficiency.
  • Must have stamina to work a minimum of twelve (12) hours per day for extended periods of time.
  • The E & I Journeyman must be able to work in an environment with extreme temperatures, dusty conditions, and high noise levels.
