Northrop Grumman Advanced Weapon Systems has an opening for a Dynamics-Structural Analyst -(Level 3 or 4) to join our Loads and Environments / Structural Analysis team. This position will be at our AW (Advanced Weapon) Division facility located in Northridge, CA. This is an on-site role and there is no remote work. The selected candidate will work in a team environment with other engineering organizations performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications and manufacturing plans. You will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems and subsystems, and will also apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions. The elected candidate will join our team of qualified and diverse individuals.   • Support the analysis needs of defense programs.
  • Support in the development of structural loads.
  • Develop dynamic environments including shock, random vibration, sine vibration, and acoustic environments.
  • Support testing efforts of functional components to dynamic environments.
  • Develop data analysis to ensure qualification of flight hardware.
  • Perform structural analysis tasks as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience; or a master’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering with a minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Proactive, strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management, organization, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to clearly present technical information to all organizational levels.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas: Deriving structural loads, Creating FEA models, Modeling structural dynamics (Shock, Vibration, and acoustics), Dynamic testing of components (shock and vibration), Performing Modal Surveys, Analyzing time-series data.
  • Computer skills including Matlab, Python, NX, ANSYS, HyperMesh, Fortune, and NASTRAN.
  • Master’s or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering with emphasis in structures, dynamics, or controls.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering tools (MBSE).
  • Experience with Missile design and analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience about dynamics on Missile.
